5769 Elections for Vaad Hakohol, Board of Directors of the CHJCC and Elections for Gaboim of 770

In 1986 the Rebbe began a series of Sichos at the Farbrengens that criticized those who apposed the Elections for the Rabbonim of the Badatz. After many months, and with the Rebbe's Approval, the same Netzigim which organized the Elections for the Rabbonim, also Organized the Elections for Vaad Hakohol and Board of Directors of the CHJCC

The end result was the popular election of the Vaad HaKohol by all the members of the community. Since the membership of the JCC is made up of the Shuls in the Neighborhood, Delegates from each Shul were selected and formed the Bylaws of the Vaad Hakohol and the CHJCC.

The Executive Board of the Netzigim is supposed to be elected every year.

For some reason there was no election for several years, until this past September when the following officers were elected:

Correspondence Secretary: Yisroel Landa
Treasurer: Mendel Schechter

Detailed Reports: - What happened at the Ntezigim Meetings?

First Meeting with Vaad HaKohol - At the first Netzigim meeting after the new Vaad HaKohol was elected, the Vaad came. There were no minutes of this meeting published by the old Executive Committee, most likely because it turned our very embarrassing to Moshe Rubashkin. Here is a brief summary:

Most of the published agenda of the meeting was cancelled because Rubashkin gave one of his famous monologues. It was a stream of consciousness, and left most netzigim shocked. There was no clear message, but a lot of criticism of a host of “enemies” that Rubashkin claimed worked against him during the election.

In the middle of his rant against Leibish Nash, Nash himself walked in. He said he was not notified of the meeting and came now because someone had called him to tell him the meeting was going on. It appeared that Rubashkin and his friends on the Executive Committee of the Netzigim had purposely not notified Nash of the meeting.

Some of the Netzigim finally interrupted Rubashkin and requested that Nash answer some of his criticisms. Nash responded with “class” and said that he thought problems within the Vaad should be kept between the members and they should first attempt to work them out among themselves, and only as a last resort come to the public’s attention. He claimed to be surprised at many of the criticisms leveled at him since he thought he had straightened out Rubashkin’s misconceptions and the issues were resolved. Rubashkin seemed to accept this and the “fight” ended.
